WHO ARE WE?

ME (MALLORY)…

I started my career journey with a passion for writing—ie, a love for story. It’s no wonder that my love affair with wine started in a neighborhood hi-dive with a passionate bar owner who opened my mind to the story of wine.

I moved to Portland, became certified in WSET 2, and spent over a decade managing a local bottle shop, developing a love for wine marketing and a deep understanding of how to connect to wine consumers.

Determined to bridge the education gap between consumers and the wine industry (down with gatekeeping!), I co-founded Sunday School Wine. What started as in-person wine classes grew into a national, online wine education platform.

Building on this success, I co-founded Alt Wine Fest in 2019, reshaping the landscape of wine events and introducing the diversity of Oregon wine to an audience eager for the message.

Throughout my fifteen years working closely with both consumers and industry professionals, I've been consistently struck by the disconnect between a brand's story (whether it's a local boutique winery or an entire region) and everyday consumers. When this message is effectively communicated, the "aha" moment is transformative.

Today, I am passionate about helping wine brands and small businesses authentically connect with their audiences, bridging the gap between a brand's personality and the people who are waiting to embrace it.

…& CO (MARTIN)

The Diddy to my Donkey Kong, I’m supported by fellow content writer and creative consultant pro, Martin Skegg.

In addition to co-founder of Sunday School Wine and Alt Wine Fest, Martin is a freelance writer of all things wine, food, and travel. He is a Symposium for Professional Wine Writers fellowship recipient and certified in Wine Business (Sonoma University) and WSET 2. He is also the former wine columnist for the Portland Mercury, where he spent years demystifying fermented grape topics and trends for a general readership.

In the “real” world, he’s a seasoned journalist who’s spent the past two decades writing and consulting for prestigious outlets such as The Guardian, The Independent, Reuters, FT Magazine, Wallpaper, CNBC European Business, United Rhapsody, Delta Sky, Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, Time Out, Visit London, Bose, and Tatler.

He’s a cheeky Brit and most impressively, an admirable history buff.
